Moving Day
So the day of my move arrives. The moving men get there and then tell me that my furnishings are considerably larger than 440 cubic feet. They tell me it's more like 570 cubic feet.
My original quote was $1922.00 for 440 cubic feet and I was told that the price would not go up even if my furnishings were larger. The only extra things added on moving day were 3 small cardboard boxes and 2 medium boxes.
Of course, now that it's moving day I really don't have any choice but to go ahead with them. So we go over the contract and the expected date of arrival. It was supposed to be March 7th or 8th. Rich at the office then tells me that they have 21 days to deliever my furnishings. Well as you can imagine, that didn't sit too well with me. He assures me that it won't take that long. Obviously I would not have hired them if they told me that up front.
My qoute included disassembling and assembling of furniture. My living room furniture was purchased at Ikea. Anyone who has been there knows that when you buy furniture there, it has to be assembled at home. They didn't disassamble the furniture, so a blind man would be able to tell you that it will take up more space. Duh. They also tell me that if they disassemble it, they won't be able to assemble it at my new apartment because they don't have the directions to do it. My desk was disassembled and moved. I had to assemble myself when it arrived. I managed to do it without directions.
I guess I'm not as retarded as they are.
So now my furniture is loaded on the truck. It's night time now and they don't have a light on the truck. They even ask me if I have a flashlight. Of course I do and guess what, it loaded on the truck. So now I can't tell how much space was used or how well it was packed.
They then tell me that my price quote of $1922.00 was incorrect. The new price is $2840.00. Imagine how shocked I was. So much for a guaranteed price quote. Highway robbery is more like it.
The quote was supposed to be "all inclusive", of course it wasn't. I had to pay for tape! I also had to pay for boxing up my mirror! My glass table top and bags for the mattress's and boxspirngs! When I spoke with Rich about the price increase he tells me that those other things wern't included in the "all inclusive" price? I think it's a little odd that an "all inclusive" price dosent include everything. Why call it "all inclusive" if it isn't? I can only conclude that it's a way to screw people out of more money!
